Course Objectives and
Description:
Discover
the four key components of career fulfillment, and how the truly successful
found career fulfillment in ways different from most of the rest of us. Plus,
learn how four childhood passions are key to your career satisfaction, and try
the 20 questions to unlock your unique passion. “Aligning Your Career” can help
you create a vision of your ideal career, and focus you on finding it without
necessarily changing companies.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the four key components of career satisfaction
2. Describe the four childhood passions and how they relate to adult career fulfillment.
3. Identify 3-6 of their own areas of career passion.
4. Identify their most important career-related values.
5. Identify their most important functional skills and personal traits.
6. Draft a rough description of their ideal career vision.
Course Outline:
1. Discussion of creating a vision, and its importance in career management.
2. The Four Basic Needs your career fulfills
3. The Four Childhood Passions
4. Exercise – 20 key questions for identifying career passion
5. Exercise – Values assessment
6. Description of Functional Skills, Personal Traits, and Knowledge Skills
7. Exercise – Peak Experience analysis in triads
8. Combining skills, values, and passions
9. Drafting an ideal career template.
Jeff Johannigman is the founder of People Type Consulting, an Austin-based firm that works with companies who want to improve their teamwork and leadership, and with individuals who want to find more fulfilling careers. Jeff’s career spans a broad spectrum of industries, including software startups, non-profit agencies, universities, and Fortune 50 corporations. Along the way, Jeff has:
•Managed worldwide staffing for the Tivoli Systems division of IBM
•Established one of the country's first alumni career services for the University of Texas
•Personally coached hundreds of people to find greater career success and fulfillment
•Founded
two successful software companies, and produced over twenty published computer
games.
Jeff has earned a Master of Arts in Human Services from St. Edward's University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Cornell University. He is an active member of the American Society for Training and Development, Wisdom at Work, and Toastmasters International.
