Event Details

Please join us at this year’s event, our FIFTH ANNIVERSARY, on Monday, March 5, 2007, which seeks to fulfill Mattie’s dreams by providing desperately needed comfort items to the Critical Care Units at Children’s National Medical Center. This year’s event will be held from 11am to 1pm at the Marriott North Bethesda Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland. Our honored speaker and recipient of the 2007 Heartsongs Award is New York Times bestselling author Alexandra Robbins. Ms. Robbins’ book, “The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids,” has opened our eyes to the intense pressures faced by teens today helping all parents improve the mental health of their children.

The Heartsongs Luncheon Fund was established as a tribute to Mattie J.T. Stepanek, a child poet, peacemaker, and inspiration to us all. Mattie was a long-time patient of Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. before he lost his battle with a rare form of muscular dystrophy in June 2004. Monies raised by Heartsongs benefit Children's Hospital. For more infomation, contact us at info@heartsongs.org
