THE CASEBOOK OF EDDIE BREWER
Stars: Ian Brooker, Peter Wight, Louise Paris | Written and Directed by Andrew Spencer
Most of my Fantastic Film Weekend reviews will be coming from Monday but it says quite a lot about a film when I find that I want to get my review done now and talk about it. People who read my reviews may know I’m quite tired of “found footage” and “documentary” style horrors, I think there are too many out there and they don’t offer anything original. Then one comes along and proves me wrong.
When the film started in the typical documentary fashion I do admit I was worried, but that did not last long. The fact is you grow to like Eddie; he’s a nice guy who investigates something that interests him. People may want to ridicule him for it, to mock him for not doing it the way they expect it to be done but he does not care, he is willing to fight for what he believes in and help people who ask for it. Ian Brooker is excellent as Eddie; he plays the role just right, making you empathise for a man who clearly is nearing the edge of his sanity at times.
Note: Q&A will follow screening with filmmmakers in attendance.
The LA INDIE Film Festival is the partner festival to the well established LA COMEDY Festival, www.LAComedyFest.com. Over the years we have had the privilege to work with hundreds of filmmakers who have told wonderfully funny stories. Many have gone on to make great films in other genres.
This made us think how wonderful it would be to showcase all the terrific stories that are being told in film, in all the different, creative ways in which they are being told.
We are very excited to present the 2nd LA INDIE Film Festival.
