About the Event
The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Roy MacLaren, PC, is pleased to invite you to an exclusive lunch with Minister Subodh Sahai, Union Cabinet Minister for Food Processing Industries, and a high-level trade delegation from Gujarat. The event is being supported by the Government of Ontario.
The Summit aims at bringing together business leaders, investors, corporations, thought leaders, policy and opinion makers while serving as a perfect platform to understand and explore business opportunities with the State of Gujarat. Minister’s Biography
Minister Sahai is the Minister for Food Processing Industries and was appointed to this position in June 2009. Minister Sahai heads a Ministry of significant and increasing importance in India. The industry is expected to grow to US$ 280 billion by 2015 and generate employment of 8.2 million people in addition to the 13 million it already employs directly. Food consumption in India is estimated to grow at 5.32% by 2013 and, in recognition of this, the Government of India has accorded a high priority to this sector over the coming years.
He has previously served as the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Food Processing Industries from 2004-09. He also served as the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs during 1989-90 and the Union Minister of State for information & Broadcasting and Home Affairs from 1990-91. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly as the Member from Hatia Constituency. His current Parliamentary constituency is in Ranchi Jharkand. He is a graduate of Magadh University and possesses an L.L.B. from Patna University.
