Marine Mammals Versus Ocean Trash
The Marine Mammal Center is pleased to present a monthly series Marine Science Sundays, held on the 2nd Sunday of the Month! These fun-filled days of family-friendly tours, classroom activities and more will be centered around a new theme each month.
This month we celebrate Coastal Clean-Up Day and all of the ways we can prevent ocean trash from harming marine mammals. Docent-led tours will take you around the hospital showcasing some of the patients we are caring for and how our veterinarians are getting them better. Classroom presentations will showcase the patients The Marine Mammal Center has cared for due to ocean trash, and through interactive activities and multimedia focus on all the easy, daily behaviors that you can do to help prevent ocean trash.
Docent-led Tours at 11:00AM, 1:00PM and 3:00PM. Tours last approximately 1 hour.
- Adults: $7
- Seniors (65+) and Students (5-17) $5
- Members (and 1 guest) $5 each
- Kids under 4 are FREE
Classroom Presentations at 12:00PM and 2:00PM. Programs last approximately 1 hour. No online reservations available for the classroom presentations.

Docent Led Tour Details
Docents will guide participants around the Center's exhibits and viewing areas, provide insights into the work of the Center; and share knowledge and experience about its patients, people and purpose.
Space is limited so be sure to book early! Walk-ins are welcome though reservations are recommended. Book online to guarantee your place on the tour (a small eventbrite processing fee will be added to online reservations).

Please arrive at the Center 15 minutes before the tour to check-in and remember to bring a photo ID.

The Center is open daily 10:00AM - 5:00PM (*except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day). Docent-led Tours are best for kids 5 and up. General admission and self-guided visits are free, and donations are always welcome!

The Marine Mammal Center
The Marine Mammal Center is a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned marine mammals.
Since 1975, the Center has cared for more than 18,000 animals that have been found along 600 miles of Northern and Central California coastline, from Mendocino County through San Luis Obispo County.
Since its humble beginnings over three decades ago, The Marine Mammal Center has grown into a world-class rescue and research Center, but its goals have remained unchanged: to rescue and humanely treat marine mammals in need; through scientific inquiry, increase our knowledge about marine mammals, their health and the health of the ocean; and through education, inspire ocean conservation and stewardship.
Visitors can view seal and sea lion patients from the observation deck; learn about marine mammals and the Center's work via exhibits; peer into different viewing windows to see feeds prepared, lab work, and even post mortems taking place, and take a stroll through the courtyard and gift store. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Center relies on 80% of its funding from individuals and private donations.
