Event Details

Tea parties have been held around the nation with increasing numbers of attendees. The goal of these gatherings is to get Congress and the Obama administration hear our voices. However mostly they have heard only emotionalism, mixed messages, and vaguely partisan bromides.

To make the tea party movement an effective weapon in the war of ideas for individual liberty, the attendees must argue coherently and consistently for positive goals. On 9/11 join the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Ayn Rand Center’s Intellectual Ammunition Workshop before you head out to the 9/12 tea party! Meet and converse with other activists from around the country and four of today’s leading intellectuals and authorities on the hottest issues being debated. Speakers will include Yaron Brook, Executive Director of the Ayn Rand Institute, John D. Lewis, Duke University Professor of philosophy, politics, and economics, Iain Murray Director of Projects and Analysis and Senior Fellow in Energy, Science and Technology at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Fred L. Smith Jr. President and Founder of the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

Non-speaking attendees will include leaders of activists groups, local think tank analysts, and members of local media. Topics of discussion will include the founding ideals of America, moral arguments for defending capitalism and discussion of strategies on how to fight and win the war of ideas. We will also be showing inspiring film clips and will leave plenty of time for questions.
