Event Details

Whether taking notes in class, gathering Web research or creating a textbook study guide, student success relies on the ability to effectively capture and organize information from a variety of sources. This class will demonstrate tools that aid this “knowledge management” process, from notebook software, smartpens, and graphic organizers to everyday tech such as digital cameras and smartphone apps. Though content is primarily aimed at parents, middle and high school students are welcome to attend.

Technology tools to be discussed and/or demonstrated include:

  • Low-tech annotation aids (highlighters, stickies)
  • PDF annotation software
  • Notetaking pens (such as Livescribe, IRISPen)
  • Digital notebooks (such as Microsoft OneNote)
  • Literacy & learning software with built-in study tools (such as Kurzweil 3000)
  • Cloud-based notes and organization (such as Evernote)

Children's Health Council

At Children's Health Council, we've been helping children and families for 60 years. Our Center, two schools and Community Clinic serve families in the Silicon Valley as well as the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Our areas of expertise include learning differences, anxiety and depression, ADHD and autism. We also provide excellent parent education services and parent consultations.

CHC has a rich history of serving our community’s kids and families. Founded in 1953 by one of Palo Alto’s first pediatricians, Dr. Esther B. Clark, CHC has remained steadfast in its mission to help children, teens and families find the best ways to learn, develop and thrive.
