SCHOOL AGE: Understanding ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder: When Worlds Collide
Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (PDT)
Palo Alto, CA
Parents may hear that their child has Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) from one professional and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) from another. What does it mean if your child is diagnosed with these conditions? How are they similar and why is it not unusual to see both conditions in one child? This class will cover the overlap of symptoms and conditions, explore the ways in which one set of symptoms can complicate the other and demonstrate how to effectively address the combination of ADHD and SPD in your child.
At Children's Health Council, we've been helping children and families for 60 years. Our Center, two schools and Community Clinic serve families in the Silicon Valley as well as the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Our areas of expertise include learning differences, anxiety and depression, ADHD and autism. We also provide excellent parent education services and parent consultations.
CHC has a rich history of serving our community’s kids and families. Founded in 1953 by one of Palo Alto’s first pediatricians, Dr. Esther B. Clark, CHC has remained steadfast in its mission to help children, teens and families find the best ways to learn, develop and thrive.
