This workshop focuses on ways to develop continuity in improvisation through the development of themes, (improvised and song melody-based) and by allowing ideas to be shaped by the entire band through soloist and comping instrument interaction. Prerequisites: Students must have prior experience with improvising in a jazz setting over a harmonic form. Students must also be proficient in sight reading a basic jazz lead sheet of a commonly played standard.
