Listen Up - Sharpening Your Listening Skills

Listening is a skill that you can apply to any aspect of your life.

Have you ever been cut off in mid-sentence?  Do you finish the thoughts of other people?  Have you tuned out because you already know what they are going to say?  In this workshop you will learn where you fall on the "listen meter" by using interactive games and exercises that are designed to create a better understanding of the listening process and how to stay in the moment.

This workshop will help you increase your ability to listen effectively as well as recognizing some of the common barriers to effective listening such as:

·        Assuming subject is unimportant or uninteresting

·        Mentally criticizing speaker or delivery

·        Overreacting to certain words

·        Listening only for facts, not intent or feeling
