Principles of SAF Casework is a mid-level, two day. instructor-led course designed for caseworkers with Service to the Armed Forces experience.

The emphasis in this course in on learning and applying the skills, policies and procedures workers need to do SAF casework.  the course is very interactive and uses a variety of instructional aids, including group discussions, activities, role plays, practice excercies and scenarios.  At the end of the course, participants will have worked three complex cases from start to finish.  Participants  will not recieve any training in software prgorams used in SAF casework.

The purpose of  Principles of SAF Casework is to provide caseworkers  with an in-depth examination of Red Cross policies and apply them to SAF service delivery through a variety of experiential SAF-specific situations. Participants will build a comprehensive toolkit that they can take back to their workplace

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

1.  Apply the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to SAF casework.

2. Relate the emergency nature of the American Red Cross mission to SAF casework.

3.  Use the Service to the Armed Forces Manual (1295).

4.  Apply  each step  of the Interviewing Continuum to the helping interview.

5..Know the purpose and importance of the Casework Continuum.

6.  Complete each step on the Casework Coninuum.

Participants must commit to aattending the entire two-day course to earn a certificate of completion.
