Greeting Potential Ushers!
The good times are here at Mahalia Jackson Theater and we invite you to be a part of it! The amazing sound of Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra spills out of the doors, New Orleans Ballet Association’s graceful movement tickles the stage, the beauty of New Orleans Opera Association takes us around the world and Broadway In New Orleans offers something to put a smile on anyone’s face.
To make all this happen, we need you! We are looking for volunteers to become ushers at the Mahalia Jackson Theater. This is an opportunity for you to be involved in Arts in New Orleans, meet new people and learn new skills – while having the opportunity to see amazing performances that will grace the stage.
To become a volunteer you must attend one of our Volunteer Usher University training seminars. The next classes will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 2pm, Monday, December 3 at 6pm, Saturday, December 29 at 2pm and Thursday, January 3 at 6pm.
To keep each session intimate and allowing for everyone to participate in dialogue and activities we are offering limited seating for each session. To register for Usher University you may call the Usher Hotline at (504) 569-3377; email your contact information with the date and time of your choosing to volunteer@acetheatregroup.com or by registering on EventBrite.com.
We do encourage you to share this information and bring friends and family (over the age 18). If the above dates and times for our training our not compatible with you schedule, but you are still interested in volunteering, please forward your information so we may contact you for future training sessions.
The day of Volunteer Usher University you may park for free. Please enter the theatre through the front doors on the ground level for registration. Please be prompt – doors will close 15 minutes after start time. Please be prepared to stay for the entire training, which will last approximately 2 hours. You may also want to bring a personal calendar, as you will be able to sign up for upcoming performances once training has concluded.
