Event Details

Detroit Divas Sing, Sing, Sing 2

With the beautiful historic Edsel & Eleanor Ford House serving as the backdrop, generations young and old come together to honor the jazz vocal traditions born of the big-band swing era. Accompanied by the Detroit Jazz Festival Orchestra, three Detroit divas (Shahida Nurullah, Ursula Walker and Judy Coachill) each highlight their unique vocal talents with selections of jazz standards from the American songbook. The winner of Detroit Jazz Festival’s Youth Jazz Vocalist Competition, and the J.C. Heard All-Star Youth Ensemble, selected from outstanding students of Jazz Week @ Wayne, show the audience how the legacy of jazz has been preserved through the years.

About the Detroit Jazz Festival

Major corporate partners include Chrysler, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Carhartt and Mack Avenue Records. Additional partners include Absopure Water Company, Amtech International, Great Lakes Beverage, Charity Motors, Cliff Bells, Comcast, Compuware, Detroit Marriott, Dickinson Wright, Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, Fathead, Meridian Health Plan, Motor City Casino Hotel, Pepsi Beverages Company, Plante Moran, PNC Foundation, Quicken Loans, St. John Providence Health System, DownBeat, Hour Detroit, JazzTimes, MetroTimes and Fox 2.
