Event Details
In 1987, the Washington Street Elevated train was torn down and the community of Roxbury was left without rapid transit for the first time since 1901. Equal or Better follows the story of promises made to the community and action taken by the citizens that led to the 2002 launch of the Silver Line, re-connecting Dudley Square and Downtown Boston. The film interviews transportation and community representatives to provide a look into the 15 years of process and action between the removal of the train and the launch of its required “equal or better” replacement. Please join us for this hour-long look into Boston’s transportation past and present, with a special Q&A with the film’s director, Kris Carter, at the conclusion of the movie.
