The Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra (APO) welcomes internationally acclaimed cellist Allison Eldredge, who has performed with such orchestras as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Saint Louis Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, Berlin Symphony, Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, The Hague Philharmonic, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Ms. Eldredge performs an exciting concerto by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, and the APO Principal Cellist Stephen Gates will be featured with Ms. Eldredge on a delightful concerto for two cellos by Vivaldi. The APO will perform Beethoven’s exhilarating Symphony No. 7.

Yoonie Han is the recipient of South Korea’s Gawon Music Award as the “most brilliant pianist aged 17 to 31 of any nationality who possesses the most promising potential for global prominence.” She is the first-prize winner of the Washington International Piano Competition (2011), the Fulbright Concerto Competition (2011), Juilliard’s Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition (2008), the World Piano Competition (2008), and the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition (2005), and has garnered major prizes at the Helsinki Maj Lind International Piano Competition and Milan Concorso Pianistico Ettore Pozzoli Internaziole. Ms. Han will perform Gershwin’s powerful Rhapsody in Blue. The APO performs works written by contemporaries of Gershwin, and by composers who were influenced by him.

Jonathan Story, piano

Fayetteville native Jonathan Story recently completed his Master's Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Arkansas, where he studied with Professor Jura Margulis. Dubbed "Fayetteville's Piano Man" by the Northwest Arkansas Times, Story has collaborated with the North Arkansas Symphony, the University of Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and The Arkansas Philharmonic. He has served as accompanist of the Barbara Mashburn Scholarship Foundation, Schola Cantorum and Concert Choir at the U of A, and the Gospel Echoes Quartet. He has served as organist of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville for seven years, and has accompanied Singing Men of Arkansas since 2008. He serves on the Board of the Barbara Mashburn Scholarship Foundation and the Washington County Historical Society, and is a member of the Fayetteville Downtown Rotary Club, which recently named him a Paul Harris Fellow.

 

 RACHMANINOFF    Piano Concerto No. 2

Winner of the 2013 University of Arkansas Concerto/Aria Competition will also be a featured soloist.
