Jay Ingram, Canadian author, broadcaster and science popularizer Ingram is one of Canada's most trusted and recognized science popularizer, having hosted the Discovery Channel program Daily Planet for more than 15 years. He hosted CBC's popular science program Quirks & Quarks from 1979 (taking over for David Suzuki) until 1992 (when he was succeeded by Bob McDonald).  During his tenure on Daily Planet Ingram earned two ACTRA Awards. In 1993, he won the "Science in Society Journalism Award" for his radio program about language.  In 2009 he was made a Member of the Order of Canada "for his contributions towards making complex science accessible to the public as a broadcaster, public speaker and author, and for his leadership of future generations of science journalists."
