WESTERNIZED's Visual Effects Lead, Christian Castaneda, and Assistant Visual Effects Supervisor, Nathan Hackett, will reveal the magic behind the viral sensation "A Day Made of Glass", by Corning at this month's SFMOGRAPH meeting. With over 19,000,000 views on Youtube and estimated to have been viewed over 100,000,000 times around the world, "A Day Made of Glass" is the most successful and most viewed corporate video of all time. Winner of a silver W3 Award for Visual Effects, a BtoB award for Best use of Viral Video, a Digital Impact Award, and an official honoree for the 2011 Webby awards, "A Day Made of Glass" has been featured on Fox News and tech blogs like Gizmodo, Wired, The Awesomer, CNet, CGSociety and many more. "A Day Made of Glass" was a surprise hit, forever changing the public's idea that Corning just made cookware.

Part of the attraction of "A Day Made of Glass" was the integration of film-quality Visual Effects and Motion Graphics, created by WESTERNIZED, into a beautifully Directed and Edited video.  Filming over 8 days, across 6 locations from San Rafael to San Jose, the 5:30 minute video contains 117 Visual Effects shots. Able to expand and tackle the project in-house, the WESTERNIZED team was involved in every part of the process from concept to final video. Christian and Nathan will discuss in depth some of the most difficult Visual Effects shots in the piece and the process of handling a large visual effects project, including some difficulties encountered as well as the achievements made. They will show breakdowns of some of the award winning visual effects in "A Day Made of Glass."
