Description:

This workshop will focus on Grief in adults and children. Grief is a natural process that every one experiences one time or another in their life. Grief can be related to a death but can also result from other types of losses. Grief reactions can be different for everyone because it is an individual process. It can also be seen differently in children as compared to adults and interventions should also be different. These differences will be presented to assist you in working with your populations. As professionals, our own losses can contribute to how we help others or can cause difficulties for us in our work. An interactive exercise will give awareness into your own background as you work with individuals and families.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this workshop participants will be able to:

Identify grief related to death and other types of losses

Identify the unique elements of grief for adults and children

Understand how their loss experience contributes to professional roles and personal relationships

Identify Community Resources for grieving adults and families
