The Talk About Town: Urban Lives & Oral Sources in 20th Century Australia

Guided Tour of the State Library of Victoria  - Wednesday 26 August 2009 - 3pm to 5pm

Join Shane Carmody, Director Collections and Access, State Library of Victoria on a tour of the Library and a private viewing of some of the key items in the collection. The State Library is the oldest Public Library in Australia and has been refurbished over 25 years to make full use of the entire city block. The tour will give an account of the history of the Library, its many characters and its many valuable items and artefacts.

Departs 3pm from the State Library of Victoria -Please meet in the foyer  Swanston Street Entrance,  Melbourne

Will conclude by 5pm  in time for the In Conversation with Alessandro Portelli Seminar at 5:30pm at the Village Roadshow Theatrette, State Library of Victoria , LaTrobe Street Entry 3.
