Catholic Social Teaching and the Requirements of Justice

Introduction

The coalition Government has embarked on one of the

most radical and broad ranging changes to the National

Health Service in England since its creation.

These changes will affect many aspects of healthcare

provision including:

  • the way in which healthcare is commissioned
  • who delivers care and where
  • the role of public health the degree of localism,
  • transparency and competition
  • integration with social care

All this is playing out against a backdrop of funding cuts.

So, what will the practical impact on health outcomes be?

What are the risks of growing inequalities in healthcare?

What do the principles of Catholic social teaching bring to

an understanding and evaluation of the evidence so far?

A series of early evening seminars have been organised

for healthcare professionals interested in exploring the

connection between faith and health on the theme.
