The Business of Business: How to Found Your Startup

Monday, August 6th from 8:00 - 9:30 pm

Bart Stein, co-founder, Stamped

You might have thought the hardest part of creating a startup was coming up with an idea, but then you tried to turn it into a reality.  Do you know how to set up a payroll?  What costs to project on a monthly basis?  How to negotiate a term sheet?

This 90-minute class will cover practical how-to’s of starting a business including: planning, structuring, budgeting, recruiting, financing and running the day-to-day operations.

Students need no prior knowledge, but should have ambitions to build their own businesses - the team could be at the point of inception or looking to expand current operations. Specifically this class will be useful to those ultimately hoping to seek venture funding.  Students should expect to gain practical knowledge that they can apply directly to their business ventures, no matter the focus of the company.

Bart Stein is the co-founder of Stamped where he leads marketing, operations, and business development. Stamped is a new way for people to put their stamp of approval on only what they like best -- restaurants, books, movies, music and more. The result is a new source of quality information that is curated by trusted sources as opposed to large anonymous crowds. Stamped is backed by Bain Capital Ventures and Google Ventures. Bart previously worked at Google Creative Lab and graduated from Brown University. .
