Event Details

Join Mark Cavagnero, FAIA and Kang Kiang, AIA for a hard hat tour of the new SF Jazz Center.

When it opens in January 2013, the SFJAZZ Center will be the first facility on the west coast dedicated to jazz performance and education, underscoring the significant role this indigenous American art form has played in San Francisco and the nation’s history.  The three-story, 35,000-square-foot building, located in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, unites SFJAZZ’s multi-faceted mission to showcase world-class jazz artists from around the globe, nurture young musicians, and promote jazz education through outreach, establishing a hub for preservation and innovation in jazz.  The project is designed sustainably and anticipates LEED Gold certification.

This tour is for AIA Members only.

-Please remember to wear closed-toed, sturdy shoes.

-The group will meet at the corner of Linden and Franklin (outside of Nojo restaurant).

-Hard hats will be provided by the contractor.
