Survival Italian I - An Extraordinary Italian Language, Cultural and Culinary Event.
Prima Festa presents our very popular Survival Italian I class on Monday nights from 7 to 8:30 at Events, Etc, which is located at 814 East Chocolate Avenue in Hershey, PA. The ten weekly sessions begin on January 8 and will end on March 12. The $154 registration fee includes the ten weekly sessions and the Prima Festa Feast on March 19.
On Monday night, March 19, a family-style Prima Festa, seven-course Italian Feast will be held at Events, Etc. for all class members.
The meal will feature a special Italian language menu. Students will use what they learned in class by having to order their food and beverages from Italian speaking waiters. The cost for the dinner is included in the instruction fee. The $34 dinner fee for guests must be paid two weeks in advance of the dinner.
Survival Italian is designed for anyone planning a trip to Italy, or for those who want a well rounded introduction to basic Italian conversation, culture, food, traveling, history and geography.
Students will learn the basics of pronunciation, greetings and introductions, asking directions, telling time, numbers, days of the week, and ordering beverages in bars and food in restaurants.Common phrases and gestures will also be taught.
Students will learn culture, etiquette, telephone conversation, personal security, how to understand the train system, renting cars, traveling on your own around the country, handling illness & accidents, traveler's insurance, and exchanging currency.
Students will also learn where and how to shop, and how to communicate and negiotiate with shop keepers, and will be provided with an basic understanding of Italian history, culture and geography.
No prior exposure to the Italian language is required.
