Fashion's Night Out (FNO) is an unprecedented global initiative originally created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry's economy during the recession.  On Thursday, September 6, 2012 in response to overwhelming demand, Fashion's Night Out will return to cities across the country to highlight fashion and support retail with exciting events that will include designer appearances, celebrity guests, fashion shows, and musical performances.  In the United States, the program is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York.

Downtown Riverside first participated in Fashion’s Night Out in 2011 and drew over 1,500 fashionistas from all over the Inland region to celebrate the art of fashion and enjoy the unique shopping experience of downtown Riverside.   With the success of last year’s event, Downtown Riverside will once again celebrate Fashion’s Night Out on September 6, 2012.   The celebration will start at 4 pm  and continue with retail and arts activities until 9 pm.  Then the celebration will move to the after parties at various downtown locations until 11 pm.

The featured fashion show on Main Street (Civic Plaza) will run from 6 pm to 7 pm, and is produced in partnership with The Art Institute of California-Inland Empire and will feature fashions from local retailers and Art Institute design students as well as in-store specials, meet and greet of local fashion designers, product sampling, demonstrations, and more.  Downtown Riverside's FNO will also collaborate with the September Riverside Arts Walk to feature wearable art and fashion exhibits from various downtown galleries and special performances at the Culver Center of the Arts.  Planned activities will extend beyond Main Street to include University Avenue and Lemon Street with the grand opening of Aurea Vista, A Shopping Mecca, a new retail concept with an artistic flair.  Local stylists will also be demonstrating hair fashions with a student and professional competition at the newly renovated historic Auditorium.  Downtown hospitality establishments will be offering specials for the weary fashionistas who have 'shopped until they dropped'.

Due to anticipated high demand for seating at the Main Street Fashion Show during 'Downtown Riverside Celebrates Fashion's Night Out', advance seating is being offered through Eventbrite.  If you would like a seat reserved for you, please register.  The Main Fashion Show will take place on the Civic Plaza on Main Street between Mission Inn Avenue and University from 6 pm to 7 pm.
