and Don "DC" Curry!

When:  Saturday, July 28, 2012

Time:  8:00pm

Where: The Hilton New Orleans Riverside - Grand Ball Room

New Orleans, Louisiana

Why: To Laugh and Support a Great Cause!

The National Medical Association (NMA) is the association of African American physicians and we are coming to New Orleans, Louisiana for our Annual Conference and Scientific Assembly.  We are bringing the nation's doctors back to New Orleans and we're bringing along some laughter for all with the hilarious DL Hughley.  Join us for our 2nd Annual "Laughter is Good Medicine" event which offers a night of comedy for all that attend.

By participating in this event ticket holders also support a great cause and make an impact in our community.  The NMA launched an aggressive campaign titled: "We Stand with You: NMA physicians and their patients united for improved health for all."  This campaign reaches the lives of all Americans, but is focused on the health and wellness of African Americans.  We invite you to attend this event, bring your family, friends and colleagues.

Whether you are able to attend this event or not, the NMA also asks that you "Stand with Us" as we address the nation's African American health issues and give a donation---whether $5.00 or $5 million dollars, we will appreciate your support and know that you will impact lives.

Come on out and laugh with the Docs of the NMA!  All are welcomed to attend--- after all we prescribe it for whatever ails you!

  The Doctors all Agree that

 "Laughter is GOOD Medicine".

  • Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
  • Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
  • Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.

Our prescription for your health is the incomparable and hilarious DL Hughley and friends!  Join us for an evening of entertainment that you won't forget!

D.L. HUGHLEY

BIOGRAPHY

One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also made quite an impression in the television, film, and radio arenas. D.L. was mostly recently heard on the New York airwaves, as host of the morning show on WRKS-FM. DL also serves as a weekly contributor to the nationally syndicated radio show, “The Tom Joyner Morning Show”.  He has added "author" to his many titles and will release his first book in July/August of 2012!

Known for being astute and politically savvy in true comedian style, D.L. served as host of his own late night talk show on CNN “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News.”   Proving he could, indeed break news, D.L. was able to uncover startling, news-making comments from such guests as former White House press secretaries Scott McClellan and Ari Fleischer, as well as RNC chair Michael Steele.

A standup comedian to the core, D.L. starred in his own one-hour special for HBO entitled “Unapologetic”.  The special, D.L.’s fourth for the network, is currently available on DVD.  In 2007, D.L. starred on the NBC series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and also HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam”, as well as the BET series S.O.B: Socially Offensive Behavior”.

As the star and producer of his namesake television show that ran on ABC and UPN “The Hughleys,” D.L. is also well known as one of the standout comedians on the hit comedy docu-film The Original Kings of Comedy.  A veteran of numerous talk show appearances D.L. switched the tables in 2005, hosting his own talk show on Comedy Central “Weekends at the DL”.  He is a regular on the late night talk show circuit, including always-memorable appearances on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Conan.”  He is frequently requested, and has even guest hosted on such shows as, “The View” and “Live with Regis & Kelly”.

In addition, D.L. has headlined several comedy specials including “D.L. Hughley: Going Home”, “D.L. Hughley Live”, “Shocked & Appalled”, and the recent “Unapologetic”.

D.L.’s first love, always has been, and always will be, standup comedy.  “From the minute I first walked onstage and picked up a microphone,” he says, “I knew that it was what I was meant to do.”
