Description

Trauma Nursing Core Course was developed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). This two-day course is designed to provide a consistent standardized knowledge base and approach to Trauma Care. The content is presented through lectures and psychomotor skill stations.

Spring Class: Tuesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Fall Class: Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Target Audience:

TNCC is designed for Registered Nurses. Other healthcare providers, such as LPNs or paramedics, may audit the course.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Systematically assess the trauma client by using primary and secondary survey.
  • Analyze the pathophysiologic changes as a basis for signs and symptoms.
  • Identify differences in assessment and care of the injured child and pregnant trauma patient.
  • Identify priorities in trauma care.
  • Demonstrate skills necessary to care for the trauma patient.

  • Psychosocial Aspects of Trauma Care
  • Stabilization, Transfer and Transport

TNCC offers interactive learning with scenario based assessments.

Faculty:

Presenters are TNCC instructors through the ENA who work throughout the region in Emergency Medicine.

Registration Information:

Fee: $280 (includes cost of book)

  • All attendees will need the 7th Edition TNCC manual*. This is the edition released in 2014. Books will be mailed to registered participants three weeks prior to the course.
  • Cancellation will result in a 20% processing charge plus the cost of any materials.
*There will be pre-course work that is now a requirement of this course. You will receive instructions on how to complete the pre-course work with your 7th Edition Manual.

Deadline: March 6, 2018 (Spring Class); August 14, 2018 (Fall Class)

Continuing Education Contact Hours:

Upon successful completion of the TNCC provider course, participants are verified for four years, receive a verification card and earn 17.65 Continuing Education Contact Hours (includes pre-course work).

The Emergency Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

The Emergency Nurses Association is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #2322.
