Our one-day IT leadership course explores what it means to be a leader in IT. Participants learn the principles of working with other people and with technical teams.
Understanding Leadership

What is the difference in management and leadership? In this module we’ll discuss why both are important and necessary, and how it is possible to be one without being the other. We’ll also discuss the four fundamental leadership skills of outstanding leaders.
Know Thyself

Many IT leaders expect people to behave like computers – given a specific input, you can safely expect the desired output. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. This module describes the pivotal role of personalities in the success of teams. We’ll discuss two common personality typing systems, DISC and MTBI, and how they can amplify the leader’s ability to achieve success by leveraging their own and their team’s strengths.
Understanding Technical People

You’ve heard the axiom “Money can’t buy happiness.” That’s true and it may surprise you to find where many IT professionals find their their happiness. This module describes the six categories that motivate technologists. By learning what strongly motivates technologists, and avoiding what demotivates them, you’ll build a world-class team that delivers exceptional results.
Working with Team Dynamics

Building and managing a team of diverse individuals takes time and effort, but the rewards of increased productivity and cohesion are well worth the effort. In this session, we’ll discuss the four stages of team development, the three types of power a leader has, and the best way to get the most from your team. We’ll also discuss how to add to your team.
