Event Details
Be part of an innovative project to transform one of Toronto’s laneways and help create a healthier and more people friendly Toronto. Join 8-80 Cities, ING Direct, the Toronto Public Space Initiative and celebrated Danish architecture firm Gehl Architects on Friday July 6th for the O'Keefe Laneway Visioning Workshop to have your say in how you think the laneway should be transformed.
Background:
The project seeks to revitalize the O'Keefe laneway and St. Enochs Square between Yonge and Victoria St., near Yonge-Dundas Square, by transforming the derelict space into a vibrant public space through a community engagement and design process. Similar successful laneway projects around the world suggest that these overlooked spaces can become hubs of pedestrian friendly community activity, incorporating greenery, public art, festivals, and even small scale retail, such as coffee and flower shops, supporting density and economic development.
This project is partially funded by the Ontario Government.
