Spontaneity & Impact through Improvisation

Monday, August 27th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Jay Rhoderick, Founder, Bizprov

Sales professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs aim to constantly strengthen their connective communication skills to be more compelling and persuasive with others. When we understand and use powerful improvisation-based techniques of spontaneous, interactive listening-and-response, we quickly develop communicative impact and leadership presence. We become more creative, flexible, interesting and innovative.

This session gives participants hands-on ways of presenting and engaging with others, using applied improv over a range of approaches:

  • instant autonomic relaxation
  • replacing questions with observations and curiosity
  • techniques of active listening
  • reading and exploiting social cues
  • responding faster and more confidently when fielding curveballs
  • using storytelling methods to disrupt expectations, drive home a point, develop fresh ideas and motivate action.

This is not a comedy class (though laughs abound) but an experiential introduction to applied improvisation; no performance background is required.

Jay Rhoderick is Founder of Bizprov, a communication and collaborations training firm (www.bizprovgroup.com).  An experienced improv performer and former teacher at Second City and the PIT, Jay has trained clients in finance, branding strategy, organizational development, and other sectors for over 14 years.
