West Oakland Measure Y/Healthy Oakland Summer Community Fair

The theme for OUR ANNUAL 2012 COMMUNITY FAIR is “A Healthy & Safe Summer for Oakland Youth”

The West Oakland Measure Y/Healthy Oakland Summer Community Fair will be held on Saturday, July 28^th, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. We wanted to provide sufficient advance notice so your Organization can join us with an information table at the event.

The event is being held on 26^th Street, between San Pablo Ave and West Street and we are asking participating agencies and organizations to report to the site by no later than 9:30 am for set-up.

As you may know, prior years were a huge success -- we had more than 300 people attend and about 25 non-profit organizations tabled the previous event -- and this year we expect it to be an even greater success. We are expanding our outreach efforts so we can increase the number of community participants and secure the participation of a more diverse range of agencies and organizations. To add to the appeal of the event this year we will have a surprise guest speaker.

One of our goals is to ask each participating agency or organizations that have special summer offerings for youth to engage as many youth as they can accommodate. We want all of the agencies & organizations participating to help us make our theme real by providing the resources for “A Healthy & Safe Summer for Oakland Youth”

While our information tables are free we are asking each participating agency/organizations to donate an item for our Community Raffle. Items can include services provided by an agency or organization, gift certificates for local stores and shops, etc. We ask all participating agencies & organizations to support our theme this year by selecting raffle items that reflect healthy lifestyles and summer activities as much as possible.

Please let us know as soon as possible whether your agency or organization can participate this year so I can follow-up with program logistics.
