The IRS is pleased to announce that it will co-host a one-day research conference in June with the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center (TPC) again this year.  Like last year, the conference will have several key features:

·        It will last just one day. See tentative agenda and abstracts of the papers.

·        It will be able to accommodate 150 people at the conference location.

·        However, the TPC will be able to stream the conference to the Internet live at:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/urban-institute-events, where the videos will also be stored for later viewing (no registration necessary). This means that many more people will be able to benefit from the conference at much less cost. Online viewers will be able to e-mail questions to each session for the Q&A time following the presentations. Questions for the Q&A sessions should be submitted to publicaffairs@urban.org.

·        The presenters’ PowerPoint slides will not be distributed in paper form, even to those who attend the conference. They will not be part of the video webcast either. Interested people should download them instead from the following page: http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/events/tpcirsjune212012.cfm; we plan to have them ready for download 2-3 days prior to the conference.

There will be no charge for the conference, but non-IRS attendees will be limited to the first 75 who register. Given the very limited seating, we urge agencies to encourage most of their employees to attend online, and, perhaps, to regulate how many people they send.

We hope that the attendees will represent a wide spectrum from the government, academic, and private consulting communities.
