From Awareness to Action:

A Women's Agenda for Santa Clara County

The Santa Clara County Commission on the Status of Women is once again  celebrating Women’s Equality Day, and we are counting on your support to make this event a success.  By far, this is one of the most energetic and exciting annual events of women’s leadership in Silicon Valley and commemorates the successes and achievements of women in our valley.

This year’s event is particularly important as we will be launching our Public Policy Agenda in partnership with the Office of Women’s Policy. Last fall, the Commission joined the Office of Women’s Policy in releasing The State of Women & Girls 2012 Report, a much anticipated, comprehensive analysis of how women and girls are doing in our community.  Its findings revealed great strides and challenges for women in Santa Clara County, and will serve as a basis for our county-wide advocacy work.

Join us  in our efforts in changing women’s lives!

Santa Clara County Commission on the Status of Women

The mission of the Commission on the Status of Women, founded in 1973, is to advise the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors on all issues that affect the lives of women, as well as to investigate and advocate for the equal participation and treatment of women and girls in Santa Clara County.

The Commission is actively involved in activities that serve to educate the public and promote the concerns of women and girls in Santa Clara County. Some CSW activities include:

  • Leadership Development for Women and Girls
  • Advocacy on behalf of  incarcerated women, victims of domestic  violence and human trafficking
  • Promotion of Equal Pay Day and Women’s History Month

CSW also sponsors an annual Women’s Equality Day Event in August to promote and celebrate the important contributions made by women of Santa Clara County.
