DAUK Special Event

US Representative Carolyn Maloney

Democrats Abroad UK members are invited to attend and contribute to this very important discussion with Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney as she covers significant issues which affect expatriates, including voting, banking access, and taxation.

Recognizing the need to represent Americans abroad, Congresswoman Maloney in 2007 co-founded the bi-partisan and bi-cameral Americans Abroad Caucus. Last month she introduced a bill that would help clarify the absentee ballot process for Americans abroad, ensuring that every overseas American vote is counted.

Congresswoman Maloney, who has represented the 14th Congressional District of New York, the East side of Manhattan and Queens, since 1993, is a senior member of both the House Financial Services Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. She is the immediate past Chair of the Joint Economic Committee and is recognized as a national leader with extensive accomplishments in financial services, national security, the economy, and women’s issues.

As co-founder of the House 9/11 Commission Caucus, Representative Maloney helped author and pass legislation to implement all of the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations for improving intelligence gathering. The James Zadroga 9/11 Health Care and Compensation Act, her bill to provide health care and compensation for 9/11 first responders, residents and workers near Ground Zero, was signed into law by President Obama on January 2, 2011.

This event is CLOSED to the press.

Friends of DAUK members who are not U.S. citizens are welcome but their admission must be paid by their host.

A second chance to meet Representative Maloney...

Friends of Congresswoman Maloney are holding a cocktail party fundraiser and dinner fundraiser in London after this event for the benefit of her campaign. For more information about these fundraising events please contact Cindy Darrison at: cdarrison@darrisonbarrett.com
