Join the USGBC Bay Bridge Branch on a hard hat tour for a “sneak peak” at this exciting new building. The 193,000-square-foot campus is targeting LEED NC - Gold Rating. The 14-story tower houses classrooms, labs, a library and the 4-story annex features culinary teaching kitchens, a café and a 200-seat auditorium. Tour hosts Peter Reed and Ward Buelow of LEND LEASE, Jennifer Devlin of EHDD, George Loisos of LOISOS + UBBELOHDE, and Wayne Barcelon of BARCELON + JANG will walk you through the specifics of applying green building techniques: sustainable lighting, high-tech building management systems, BIM (Building Information Modeling), indoor air quality and more!  The tour is limited to 50 people, so sign up early. Speakers

Peter Read, LEND LEASE, LEED AP

Peter graduated from Aston University in Birmingham, England with a B.S. with Honors in Civil Engineering. He began working with Lend Lease in 1989 in London, then traveled to Russia and has been working in the Bay Area for the past 16 years.
Peter is a LEED Accredited Professional and led the construction efforts on San Francisco’s first LEED-NC Silver certified high-rise residential building, Arterra in Mission Bay. Peter has built other landmark projects in San Francisco, such as the Metreon and One Rincon Hill.
Peter oversaw the construction of City College of San Francisco Chinatown North Beach campus as Project Executive, and is currently the Operations Director for Lend Lease Northern California.

Ward Buelow, LEND LEASE, LEED AP

Ward graduated from Western Michigan University in Mechanical Engineering, is a LEED Accredited Professional and has over 30 years of diversified experience in the construction industry. Ward has been with Lend Lease for the past 5 years, and managed the complete MEPF coordination of projects, such as the City College of San Francisco Chinatown North Beach campus and Arterra, San Francisco’s first LEED-NC Silver certified high-rise residential building. His past experience includes luxury hotel/condominium towers in Las Vegas, design/build military facilities, and high-security correctional facilities.

Ward also serves as the Lend Lease Northern California Sustainability Director. In this role, he strives to promote sustainable construction through LEED education and sustainability training for all Northern California employees.  He works to mentor employees, develop training programs, and establish energy benchmarking standards and measurements for tracking energy and waste diversion.  Ward also consults with clients and project teams on best practices and delivery methods. 

Jennifer K. Devlin, EHDD, AIA, LEED AP

Jennifer graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Environmental Design, then received her Master’s in Architecture from University of California Berkeley. She joined EHDD in 1994 and has been a principal for more than 10 years. She leads the firm in a wide variety of work ranging from academic facilities to museums, libraries, and schools. She is a recognized planner and designer with extensive experience on a number of significant projects, including the City College of San Francisco Chinatown North Beach campus, and the award-winning San Mateo Public Library a LEED Certified facility.

Jennifer is a member of the American Institute of Architects, American Library Association, San Francisco Planning and Urban Research. She is a Director of the AIA California Council and past President and Chapter Board of Director for the AIA San Francisco.

George Loisos, LOISOS + UBBELOHDE, AIA 

George Loisos, AIA, is a founding partner of Loisos + Ubbelohde, an architecture and consulting firm specializing in sustainable design and high performance buildings.  Mr. Loisos brings extensive design and research experience to the firm, including work on lighting controls and design, software for energy modeling, daylighting metrics and whole building energy performance.  His projects have received 29 AIA awards, three AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Projects, and three LEED platinum certifications.

  Mr. Loisos previously lead research programs in building energy use at the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and served as the architectural program coordinator for PG&E, directing groundbreaking projects in daylighting design and productivity.  As project manager and research lead for the California Energy Commission, he coordinated research and product development on energy efficient lighting and lighting controls.  His work has recently been featured in Design Informed:  Driving Innovation with Evidence-Based Design and “Transparency: Literal and Sustainable” in Architectural Record.

Wayne Barcelon, BARCELON + JANG, AIA
Wayne Barcelon, AIA, Principal, has extensive experience in the design and planning of educational, residential, community, and cultural facilities that include evolving technologies, state of the art lighting, environmental controls, and sustainable systems. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. His background of planning and design on numerous design award-winning projects include adaptive reuse of historical building buildings, museums, academic and community facilities. He and his partner, Darlene Jang, AIA, have committed to a practice serving local, non-profit community and housing organizations, academic, and cultural art facilities. His body of work includes Triton Museum of Art, the Ambassador Hotel Social Services Network Center, and historic Bayanihan House 152 SRO units, the Tenderloin Community School and the Costano Gymnasium Computer Classroom Building.
