During this full day technical symposium you'll meet with Flex practitioners, and will get better understanding of how properly build your enterprise rich Internet application right the first time.

The speakers of this event are co-authors of the upcoming book  "Enterprise Development with Flex" that will be published by OReilly.

1. Practical Design Patterns for Enterprise Flex RIA

Practical design patterns for developing enterprise Flex applications (Singleton, Proxy, Mediator, DTO, AsyncToken).


2. Data Synchronization with DataCollection and BlazeDS
10:15AM-11:05AM

Do you know how data management services work in LCDS? You can have similar functionality with open source tools.

3. Reliable network communication with BlazeDS and LCDS

Overview of Flex networking. How/why customize channels, endpoints and adapters.

4.Starting new Enterprise Flex Project

How to prepare a convenient and productive environment for your Flex project. 

5. Occasionally connected applications with Adobe AIR and BlazeDS

You'll see a demo of an application for a fictitious company, whose salesman  sells goods having disconnected from the Internet laptops. The data are synchronized as soon as the connection is available. You'll also learn about  PDF generation on the client

 

6. Partitioning Enterprise Flex Applications

This session is about  modularization of enterprise Flex RIA (libraries, modules, subapplications)

7. Selected topics of creating performing Flex RIA
3:10PM-4:00PM

Improving perceived and real performance of enterprise Flex RIA

8. Open table discussion of challenges of the symposium participants

Having a problem? Raise your hand and speak up. You'll definitely get some answers to your challenges right there on the spot. Nothing beats the collective intelligence.

While each speaker will have a formal deck of slides helping in presenting of  these topics, we'd prefer to make these talks as interactive as possible driven by the needs of the audience.

Each attendee will get a USB drive with presentation materials and code samples.

Speakers BIO

Yakov Fain is a Managing Director and a Partner at Farata Systems, a company that provides consulting services in the field of development of enterprise Rich Internet applications. He authored several technical books, and dozens of articles on software development. Recently he co-authored the book , "Rich Internet Applications with Adobe Flex and Java: Secrets of the Masters". He's a co-author of the upcoming O’Reilly book "Enterprise Development with Flex". Sun Microsystems has nominated and awarded Mr. Fain with the title of Java Champion, which was presented to only a hundred people in the world. He leads the Princeton Java Users Group. Yakov is Certified Adobe Flex Instructor.

Dr. Victor Rasputnis spends most of his time providing architectural design, implementation management and mentoring to companies migrating to Flex and J2EE technologies. Victor authored several books and dozens of technical articles. He holds PhD in Computer Science. Recently he co-authored book , "Rich Internet Applications with Adobe Flex and Java: Secrets of the Masters", and now Victor is working on the O'Reilly book "Enterprise Development with Flex".

Anatole Tartakovsky
spent more than 20 years developing complex distributed systems. The last ten years he spent  creating frameworks and business applications for dozens of enterprises ranging from WalMart to Wall Street firms.  Anatole authored number of books and articles on AJAX, Flex, XML, Internet and client-server technologies. Anatole  is working on the O'Reilly book "Enterprise Development with Flex". He holds MS in Mathematics.
