Are you Arduino-curious?

Have you wanted to learn about Arduino, but didn't know what it is or where to start?

Are you an artist or other creative type who wants to learn to create interactive objects?

This class is for you!

Mitch Altman, some would call him, "Johnny Hackerseed," has inspired people to experiment with electronics and catalyzed hackerspaces/makerspaces all over the world by teaching thousands of workshops: teaching people to solder and program microcontrollers such as Arduinos.

Mitch, currently on his Hackers on a Train national tour will be stopping by Pumping Station: One on Thursday August 2nd to give a very special workshop: "Arduino For Total Newbies"

He will teach everything you will need to know to move you from zero to Arduino in three hours, including:

• How to solder without burning down the room
• How to read schematic diagrams without freaking out
• What Arduino is
• Open hardware
• Open software, how to get it and how to use it
• How to program Arduinos and Arduino Clones using a very simple, free, open source computer language called Processing.

In the class, you will:

• Make your own "BoArduino" Arduino clone from a kit
• Set up open-source software to program your BoArduino (if you bring a laptop)
• Use your Arduino with a solderless breadboard to put together a TV-B-Gone remote control that will turn off almost all TV's.  (Mitch is the creator of TV-B-Gone.)

Included with the class fee you will receive for your very own, a Lady Ada BoArduino kit, accessories and components.  (Batteries included!)

Please bring a laptop, if you have one, with Windows, Mac OSx, or any flavor of Linux.
