Event Details

For the last decade, much of the truly original and consistently creative writing across the broad landscape of visual media has been produced on off-network television. Two of the most prominent and successful creative forces in this realm have been DENIS LEARY (Rescue Me) and TERENCE WINTER (Boardwalk Empire).

Cable television programming is populated characters who are often, at best, flawed and at their most interesting, reprehensible. In a world that ranges from motorcycle gangs to serial killers to the walking dead, two of the more complex anti-heroes on the small screen have been Leary’s Tommy Gavin and Winter’s “Nucky” Thompson. The range of behaviors, emotions and moral ambiguity that these writer/producers have been able to pack into an hour of storytelling has captivated audiences the way movies used to, and broadcast TV never dared.

OnWritingONLINE, the digital publication of the Writers Guild of America, East, and the Center for Communication invite you to join us for a free-wheeling conversation between DENIS LEARY and TERENCE WINTER.

Space is limited. Register NOW.
