The Community Economic Development Law Project is presenting a series of three seminars to assist people starting new nonprofits and businesses. The seminars are being held in the 37^th Ward Community Meeting Room, 5346 West North Avenue. Creating a Charity (Wed., June 10, 10am-12:30pm) Attendees will gain in-depth knowledge about the legal requirements and various filings for creating a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax exempt organization. CEDLP Staff Attorney Erica Spangler Raz will present.

Starting Your New Business: Legal Structures (Tues., June 23, 7pm-9pm) Learn the possible legal structures for your new enterprise, and the liability and tax advantages and disadvantages of each. This seminar will be given by a CEDLP volunteer attorney.

Business Planning for Start-ups (Tues., July 21, 4pm-6pm) A solid business plan is critical to the success of your enterprise. For nonprofits, a well-thought out business plan will make filing for recognition of income tax exemption less difficult. A business planning expert will present.
