So, you've done your market research, understood the problem domain, and built the best product possible. Now you've just launched and your users are coming in and leaving, hardly staying more than a few moments. They don't seem to care. You ask yourself, did you build the wrong thing? Chances are, your product is sound, but, your user onboarding needs work. Great user on boarding helps quickly educate first time user on what your product does, how to use it, and more importantly sells the user on why they should be using your product in their life.
This class will look at some successful examples of user on boarding in the mobile, web, and social gaming space. We'll cover some of the latest techniques in designing a great user onboarding experience. Additionally, we'll provide a check list of 10 tips to think about when designing your own on boarding experience. Lastly, if you've just launched your product, we'll spend some time reviewing some areas to improve your onboarding.
While this class is designed to help any entrepreneur who is ready to launch their product or has done so recently, learning to design an on boarding experience is a great skill to have if you're just looking to enter the startup world.
Ben Chow was Director of Web Products at Hive7, a True Ventures funded social gaming company that was acquired by Playdom in 2010. He helped grow that company from 3 to around 30 people. Prior to that he worked at design innovation firm IDEO and ad agency AKQA. He's currently in stealth mode, working on his next startup.
