Open Water Swimming Clinics

In preparation for the coming season SpeedSHOT is proudly hosting several open water swimming clinics allowing you to be ready to race!

Clinics will cover open water safety, sighting techniques, and racing tips and strategies. Each clinic is held under the guidance of coach Mark Kendall and provides participants the opportunity to practice the various situations that will be experienced during race morning.

At the end of each clinic we will also review equipment choices, transition tips, and insightful strategies for the race(s) following the clinic.

Clinics are held at the Salmon Creek Water Shed Park (a.k.a. Kline LIne) in the Vancouver Parks and Recreation District.

Clinics start at 6pm or 7pm (depending on date due to when lifeguard begin patrolling the swimming area)

Participants are reccomended to be comfortable swimming 800m steady in the pool and should come prepared with wetsuits and swimming gear.  Gear will be watched and can be left waterside.  If you do not have a wetsuit and are gearing for your first triathlon, it's reccomended to go to Athlete's Lounge (www.athleteslounge.com) for a wetsuit rental and fitting.  Generally, rentals can be made on Tuesday for a Wednesday clinic and kept through the weekend (as most clinics are prior to a local race).

Inclement weather policy:  In the case of extreme inclement weather (i.e. thunder, lightning, hail) or unforseen water conditions SpeedSHOT reserves the right to cancel and reschedule the clinic to a future date.  Registration fees can be transferred / refunded as desired.    If you are unsure of conditions and have not yet recieved a phone call / email - please call directly to SpeedSHOT at 503-332-8710 to confirm.
