Description: Help Zero Waste this great event filled with amazing food and
beverages in beautiful Barnsdall Park! Sustain LA is looking for volunteers to
assist with the ZW efforts of this event.
MONITOR ZERO WASTE STATIONS- help attendees choose the right bin
(compost, recycle or landfill) and spread the Zero Waste love!
EVENT AREA SWEEPS- walk through event and pick up any stray
discards.
TRANSPORT BAGS- take full bags from Zero Waste Stations to sort area
(cart provided).
HELP SORT at our Resource Recovery Station- experience has shown
that some people love the sorting process! Here we make sure our
discard streams are clean while weighing and documenting compost,
recycle and landfill levels.

Special Attire: Sturdy, closed toe shoes are required. Clothing that allows for ease of movement and comfort recommended (usually jeans without holes and thick t-shirt). Durable gloves will be provided. Please bring eyewear, sun, wind and rain protection as appropriate.

Sustainable Works
Sustainable Works is a non-profit environmental education organization and a project of Community Partners. Our mission is to foster a culture of sustainability in cities, colleges, and businesses.
The Sustainability Workshop program is a 9 week educational workshop. Students in the program meet for 1 1/2 hours once a week at the Center for Environmental and Urban Studies on the Santa Monica College Campus.
During the workshop meetings our participants will learn how to incorporate sustainable practices into their everyday lifestyles, improve their quality of life, and save money while saving resources.
Sustainability Workshops teach students how to implement simple conservation methods with the help of a trained Workshop Leader and the Sustainable WorksBook. Our WorksBook is a comprehensive and up to date resource guide that provides valuable information and recommendations for the following topic areas: waste production, water, chemical, and energy consumption, transportation emissions and consumer habits. Each chapter increases one's understanding of the local, regional, and global environmental impact of their daily choices.
Each week a trained Workshop Leader facilitates the hour and a half meeting. Workshop Leaders review participants' lifestyle assessment, educate on the topic, demonstrate a variety of simple activities, and recommend specific changes that reduce participants' environmental impact. Our peer-to-peer learning environment makes Sustainability Workshops fun and trains tomorrow's environmental leaders.
Each meeting engages students in hands-on, interactive and educational experiences.
