The Suncoast Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is pleased to welcome AFP International President & CEO, Paulette V. Maehara, CFRE, CAE as our June 16, 2009 program speaker. 

The topic of Ms. Maehara’s program is The Power of Philanthropy in an Uncertain World.  People are increasingly uncertain about their economic situation and prospects for the future, and are looking to charities for inspiration, community and leadership. But the economic uncertainty also extends to charities, many of which are facing the most challenging fundraising environment in decades.

Prior to joining AFP as CEO in 1998, Ms. Maehara served as chief executive officer of the Epilepsy Foundation. She has also held executive positions with Project HOPE, the American Red Cross (both at its National Headquarters and at the National Capital Chapter), the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation (Hawaii Chapter) and the University of Hawaii.
