THE GATHERING!
AWAKENING THE SPIRIT!
November 20th-22nd, 2009 - Walker Creek Conference Center - Petaluma, California
The NIA Gathering is both a rejuvenating
annual weekend retreat and a unique
opportunity to gather as a community of
Black same gender loving women to
embrace our vital role as Ritual Keepers
and Community Builders!
The retreat unfolds at Walker Creek
Conference Center in Petaluma,
California (50 miles northwest of
Oakland). The conference center is a
series of meeting spaces and lodging
nestled within 1,741 acres acres of rolling
hills and 20 miles of Hiking trails, a
shimmering pond, & a meandering creek.
The weekend will give us time to
understand, to re-awaken, to heal, to
rejoice, to rest, and to return to our lives
with powerful insights.
Through drumming circles, breath work,
chanting, writing, journeying, dancing,
creative expression, ceremony, altar work
and the celebration of our connection
with the universe - we will deepen our
understanding of how we are connected
and awaken the spirit within!

NIA Collective was created by and for same gender loving women of African descent. The organization was founded in 1987 during the Black Caucus at the Lesbian of Color Conference in San Francisco. The "purpose" of NIA Collective is to collectively build a network through self-definition, self-acceptance and acceptance of each other as same gender loving, as people of African descent and as women.
