Identity, Culture and Mental Health
The Native American Mental Health Summit (NAMHS) is an effort to engage the Native American community and Mental Health providers in addressing the issues of disparities, accessibility, and under-utilization of mental health services and treatment options.
NAMHS will bring Native American community leaders & mental health providers together to:
1) review issues of culture, identity and treatment options and
2) discuss and plan necessary actions and steps to decrease disparities and improve the quality of services provided to Native American consumers and families.
3) discuss integrated care and cultural competence
4) ask each other all of those need-to-know questions.
The format for this Summit is a one day forum of speakers and workshops that encourages dialogue among participants. The goal of this Summit is to engage participants in developing ideas and strategies to improve the mental health of Native Americans in Tennessee.
NAMI Tennessee is a grassroots, non-profit made up of families, consumers and professionals. We are dedicated to improving quality of life for people with mental illness and their families.
