The key to building a successful creative career is the conversations you create along the way. In this interactive workshop, we'll do a fast-and-furious introduction to the art of effective conversations. Networking can boost your professional talents, influence, satisfaction, and opportunities. And while some think of it as a self-promotional and necessary evil, we'll look at it from another view: a rich opportunity to connect and create new possibilities. Participants will leave not merely inspired but also more capable, with a concrete set of practices and approaches for turning strangers into allies.
This event is open to college students, recent grads, and professionals looking to have the most productive summer of their lives. Speakers will share their insight during the panel and there will also be time for Q&A and mingling with the panelists.

Sebastian Rea, Content Operations Coordinator at Tribeca Enterprises
Sebastian interned at Silvercup Studios in L.I.C. when he was 17, at the Cinemarosa Film Festival at the Queens Museum of Art at 18, Bazan PR for minority films and media at 19, and at the Tribeca Film Festival from ages 20-22 (he now works there full-time). He was contracted by Bajocero Produciones in Spain in 2011 to shoot a behind the scenes feature for the Spanish rock group Marea (LUPANAR: Making of Marea). Sebastian also volunteers at The New York State Youth League Council (NYSYLC) where he helps undocumented students fight for higher education and petition for the passing of the DREAM Act.

Arden Pennell is Program Director at Business Insider, where she curates content for executive conferences on media, technology, and investing. Events she has created include IGNITION, IGNITION West and Social Commerce Summit. Prior, she helped TechCrunch launch Disrupt and worked with entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley. Her work relies heavily on initiating conversations that help define conference themes, build relationships, and confirm speakers. These conversations have led to partnerships with leaders from Fortune 500 companies such as Google, top private firms such as Facebook, startup entrepreneurs, and investors. Arden believes an effective conversation is one where all parties feel comfortable being authentic and curious, and enjoys facilitating workshops about how to get there. She is also a Certified Integral Coach.
