Event Details

We are pleased to announce that Locanda Vini e Olii’s next wine dinner will be taking place on Monday, May 14th at 7pm.

Our featured producer for this dinner will be Fattoria Le Terrazze, from the region of Le Marche.  The winery is located on the rocky slopes of the Adriatic sea, near the town of Ancona, in an area that has hosted vineyards for nearly 3000 years.  Using almost exclusively Montepulciano grapes, Le Terrazze is a practicing organic producer, making rich and complex wines that are considered some of the best in this lesser known region.  Although the Terni family has owned the estate since 1882, Antonio Terni was a physicist before taking over the business.  His winemaker, Ettore Janni, will be in attendance for this dinner and available to answer all of your wine questions.  Chef Baldacci is putting together a five-course meal to pair with Ettore’s wines, highlighting the traditional cuisine of Le Marche.

BRODETTO ALL'ANCONETANA*
Classic seafood stew from the town of Ancona.
Shrimp, mussels, clams, palombo, durade & squid poached in a light broth. 

Wine pairing:
Rosso Conero “Praeludium” 2010
This is a wonderfully juicy Rosso Conero that Ettore actually likes to serve a bit chilled.  

*Vegetarian option: Spring pea & mint soup

BACCALA CON PATATE*
Roasted salt cod served over thinly sliced potatoes

Wine pairing:
Rosso Conero 2009
Bright, ruby red, and a perfect example of classic Montepulciano from Le Marche. 
 

*Vegetarian option: Spinach sformato

VINCISGRASSI*
Traditional lasagna made from layers of homemade pasta sheets, besciamella & a ragu of beef, pork and chicken giblets.

Wine pairing: 
Rosso Conero "Sassi Neri" 2006
Intense, aromatic and well structured.  

*Vegetarian option: Chestnut flour pizzocheri with sauteed asparagus and lemon zest

Fritto Misto Marchigiano*
A mixed plate of fried lamb chops, rabbit, zucchini, onions & custard cream.

Wine pairing: 
Rosso “Chaos” 2007
This blend of Montepulciano, Syrah and Merlot is Ettore’s favorite.  Named by Antonio Terni after chaos theory, which states that a particular result can not always be explained by the interaction of its components, the wine is big, spicy and smooth.
 

*Vegetarian option: Fried mixed plate of vegetables

Blueberry tart with fresh whipped cream 

Wine pairing: 
Since Le Terrazze doesn’t make a dessert wine, for our last course, we will be pouring the delicious late harvest Vernaccia Nera “Sommo” from fellow Le Marche producer Colli di Serrapetrona.
