Malcolm, Martin, Medgar
By A. Peter Bailey

Journalist and author, A. Peter Bailey, a former associate editor of Ebony Magazine, a member of the 1976 -77 Tony Awards Committee and the 2010 visiting playwright with Howard University’s theatre department, has completed his first play, Malcolm, Martin, Medgar.

The play, according to Bailey, “contains my perceptions on how the three heroic warriors would respond to events and individuals in today’s world. It is motivated by my deep admiration for the three brothers, all of whom had options other than sacrificing their lives for us. One of the questions raised in the play is whether we as a group have proven worthy of their sacrifice.”

The two-act play deals with the three characters, not only as leaders and legends, but as the fathers of thirteen children, ages unborn-12, whom they left behind. “Another question raised,” notes Bailey, “is whether they had the right to leave thirteen children fatherless, even for a righteous cause.”

Malcolm, Martin Medgar is certain to be informative, educational, thought-provoking, exciting and entertaining.

Bailey worked closely with Malcolm X during the last 14 months of his life and was one of the last five people to speak with him on February 21, 1965.Currently, he is a Communications Consultant for the Bethune-DuBois Institute, the author of Revelations: The Autobiography of Alvin Ailey and co-author of Seventh Child: A Family Memoir of Malcolm X.
