Intellectual Property Law for Startups // BUSINESS 273

Kristen Leibensperger, Partner @ Leibensperger Law

Monday, May 14th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm

No matter what kind of business you've created, start-up or grown-up, your company can be in jeopardy if you don't understand your most important asset: intellectual property (IP). Some companies are built on it while others generate it over time. You could have unique, protectable IP and not even know it! Or, you may know it but haven't taken the proper steps to protect, nurture, and grow it along with your day to day business.

This class will explain a complex area of law that affects all businesses, especially start-ups, in plain and simple terms. This class will outline a strategy to protect your IP - from copyright and trademarks, to trade secrets and licensing, to overall brand, product and service protection. Follow these steps, understand your IP and leave confidant that the fruits of your entrepreneurship and unique ideas will be built on a solid foundation for success.

Kristen Leibensperger is the founding partner of Leibensperger Law P.C. She established the firm to work closely with clients facing the unique legal challenges of today's creative industries. Her background includes a wide variety of copyright, trademark, trade secret, false advertising, and licensing issues. Prior to founding the firm, Ms. Leibensperger practiced law at "A-list" Patterson Belknap Webb and Tyler LLP. She received her JD from Northwestern University School of Law where she served as staff editor of the Journal of International Law and Business. She received her B.A. from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. @leiblaw, leibenspergerlaw.com
