This concert will take place at the Strings Music Pavilion. Asleep at the Wheel’s turns 40 this year, and the legendary Western swing band shows no symptoms of slowing down. They’ve recently been awarded the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Performing and nominated for the Best Americana Album Grammy for Willie and the Wheel, their newest collaboration with Willie Nelson. Asleep at the Wheel also has nine Grammy Awards under its belt. Asleep at the Wheel has been going strong since Rolling Stone anointed them America’s best country and western band in 1977. Recently they’ve drawn record crowds by adapting their repertoire for pops symphony performances as well. But the band has never strayed from the lively mix of big band, country and dance music that was popularized in the 1930s and 1940s by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Today, the band includes Benson on lead vocals; Jason Roberts on fiddle, guitar, mandolin and vocals; Eddie Rivers on steel guitar and sax; David Miller on bass and vocals; David Sanger on drums; Elizabeth McQueen on guitar and vocals; and John Whitby on piano.

Mary Levingston will teach this workshop at The Depot. Watercolor techniques for creating visual texture in the painting of watercolors will be taught in this workshop. Bring: 9 x 12 palette with lid, masking tape, a board to tape paper to, 22 x 30 watercolor paper 1 sheets Arches 140lb cold press paper natural or white, or watercolor block, drawing pencil, eraser, one set of primary watercolor paints (Grumbacher or Cotman), brushes: 1 ½-2 in. flat brush and 10 in. round brush (Windsor Newtons Cotman or other), 2 small water containers, small spray bottle, cloth or paper towels (not scented, no lotion), something to carry supplies in.

Paula Jo Jaconette will teach this workshop at The Depot. There will be a brief overview in the classroom to start the session and then we will head outdoors with our cameras for on-site instructions. Bring: Camera

Jean Perry will be teaching this workshop at The Depot. Jean will show how to use composition, color temperature and value to achieve light and drama in your paintings. Bring: Bristle brushes 2,4,6 and 8, oil paint, French easel, palette, odorless paint thinner, sketch book, small canvases (8 x 10, 10 x 12, 12 x 16). Students who would like to watch the workshop, but not paint, do not need to bring any materials.

Stuart Handloff will teach this workshop at The Depot. Workshop participants will get to see their favorite musical moments from the American musical canon and learn how they fit into the history of the genre. Bring: No materials needed.

Mark Spragg, noted Wyoming author, will lecture on the art of writing. Following the lecture, Mark will engage in a conversation about writing, ranging from mechanics to the "life" of writing. Writers, active and aspiring, will find this workshop a wonderful opportunity to explore the written form of the art of expression. Tickets redeemable for $5 store credit at Off the Beaten Path. Susan Jackson will teach this workshop at the Art Tent. Basic principles for creating perspective with color, shapes and values will be the focus of this workshop. Bring: Paint: cadmium red light or medium, alizon crimson, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow medium, ultra-marine blue, cobalt or cerulean blue, titanium white and viridian green. Brushes: Any two (or more) of sizes 2,6,8 and/or 10. Beginners can also invest in student grade paints. 9 x 12 or 11 x 14 panels, paper towels and sun protection. Optional: turp container, easel.

Meg Widmer will teach this class at the Oak Street Dance Studio. A belly dance sampling for the never-ever beginner. Bring: Comfortable workout clothes, water.

Wyoming-based author Mark Spragg writes about the people, ranching and land of the West. His acclaimed third novel An Unfinished Life was made into a movie starring Morgan Freeman and Robert Redford. Now the main characters return in Spragg’s new novel Bone Fire, a mysterious, deep and dark story of renewal. Spragg’s first work, Where Rivers Change Direction, a memoir, won the Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association Award. This event will feature a reading from Bone Fire followed by an NPR-style interview and book signing at Off The Beaten Path. Tickets redeemable for $10 store credit at Off the Beaten Path.

Jennifer Lowe will teach this workshop at The Depot. This all-levels West African Dance class will include a full body warm-up, isolations, introduction to movement theory for this style of dance, culminating with learning steps to a traditional West African dance with live drumming as accompaniment. Stuart Handloff will teach this workshop at the Art Tent. Participants will explore contemporary understanding of classic Shakespearean texts (sonnets and dialogue from selected plays) through physical interpretations of the material. Bring: Texts will be provided and no memorization is required in advance.

Hawkin Ludlum will teach this class at the Depot. Introduction to two step and three step along with upper body moves. Bring comfortable clothes.

Jill Murphy Long will teach this workshop at the Art Tent. From the goal of publishing with a traditional publisher to self publishing, blogging, attending conferences and workshops, winning contests or getting clips – all of these venues could award you a by-line on a book. This session will cover fictional novels, non-fiction books such as memoirs, travel books, cookbooks, and even children's books. Bring: Pen and notebook. Laptop if preferred (no electricity).

Geared toward the Beginner / Intermediate level actor (or aspiring actor) 12 years or older, this energetic and interactive workshop will cover basic acting techniques and approaches using improvisation, theatre games, and brief scene work. Bring: Please prepare beforehand a one minute or less MEMORIZED scene. If not possible, you may bring any theatrical scenes you wish to be coached on.
