What you'll hear

The webinar will explore the key topics that should be considered in the process of planning for a content management system told through the experiences of the New Orleans Tourism Corporation. Nathan Williams will recount their exhaustive search for the perfect CMS combined with their strategic planning process to bring the new site to life.

Why CMS matters to the City of New Orleans

New Orleans’ tourism officials are working overtime to bring tourists and conventions back to the city post-Katrina. The key to the city’s resurgence: a robust, visitor-centric online strategy enabled by a new web content management system.

With one big chance to get it right the first time, the New Orleans team has spent the past 18 months bringing a vision for the website to life. The team prioritized planning, strategic innovation, user experience and at the center of it all, adopted a web CMS system that enables its marketers to deliver dynamic, powerful experiences for site visitors.

About Nathan Williams

After teaching for two years at Mississippi State University, Nathan Williams completed his M.F.A in 1996 and packed up for his adopted home, New Orleans.  He worked as a designer for Bent Media and was later invited to create the first interactive division for Peter A. Mayer Advertising, the largest ad agency in the Gulf south states.  Over five years, he designed a wide range of interactive media for diverse clients–everything from schnapps to cruise lines.

After re-launching FrenchQuarter.com in 2003, he became the Interactive Director for New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation and developed a complete in-house interactive group to grow the New Orleans flagship tourism Web site, NewOrleansOnline.com (but he still has a lot of fun with RadioFreeNewOrleans.com, too!).
